A CPD Medley

 

1)  An NCOR Research Summary:  K Tape Fact or Fashion?

 

Andrew MacMillan M Ost PT has recently completed a literature review for NCOR. He will briefly be discussing his findings as well as the process for getting involved with NCOR to produce osteopathic research. Andrew teaches sports and exercise rehab at the London School of Osteopathy and is currently undertaking a masters in medical education, he is involved with treating and training a range of athletes and is a competitive powerlifter.

 

 

His article was published in Osteopathy Today and focussed on the application of sports tape both for sporting performance and as an adjunctive treatment intervention for MSK conditions. He will discuss the findings of his research as well as describing potential benefits and harms associated with K tape along with a brief summary of the current evidence base and its impact on clinical practice. This should be of interest to those who regularly treat athletic patients as well as anyone considering a adding tape to current treatment techniques.

3) An overview of the new CPD scheme

 

Deborah Smith will present an overview of the new CPD scheme – what it involves, how you can comply.

 

Deborah Is a member of the Remuneration and Appointments Committee for the General Osteopathic Council and runs Mint Practice which assists practitioners with clinical compliance.

 

 

 

This will lead on to a discussion of how Osteopaths in Bedfordshire can support you in the new CPD scheme and how we can build a better community of practice. We believe the group has failed to achieve it’s purpose but we want to change the culture and improve the group to make it a great supportive community that benefits osteopaths in Bedfordshire.  Deborah has produce a discussion document which you can request from us – if you can’t attend we would still love your feedback
