A win for the global osteopathic community

In the last two years the European Federation and Forum for Osteopathy (EFFO) has helped achieve regulation of osteopathy in four countries across Europe. The latest to achieve such a success is Norway. The Norwegian government announced on 2 December 2020 that they will now recognise osteopaths as authorised and regulated health personnel.

Hanna Tómasdóttir president of the EFFO, reports on the win:

“We would like to congratulate our hardworking colleagues in Norsk Osteopatforbund for all the sacrifices and hard work that you have done in the name of our profession. It is not only a recognition of our profession in Norway, but a recognition of our profession globally. We are looking forward to thanking and celebrating with you in the EFFO Autumn Conference and General Meeting 2021 in Oslo, hosted by Norsk Osteopatforbund.”

Tomas Collin, President of the Norsk Osteopatforbund was grateful to the wider profession, “It is a day to celebrate, and to be thankful to those who have contributed in this work over many years. Being part of the greater osteopathic community has given us strength to carry on.”

The iO is a member administrative body of the EFFO – an organisations of organisations working towards a greater vision where, regardless of borders, osteopaths stand together. The continued development of a sense of community is an essential feature for the recognition and regulation of the osteopathic profession.
