Dorchester Bones Museum

| Tuesday March 5th 6-9pm, Dorchester Bones Museum. ‘Is It Anatomy That Gives Us Pain’ with Julian Baker of Functional Fascia. 2 hours of certified CPD from 7-9pm (venue open from 6pm for attendees to view exhibits), open to Osteopaths & other Therapists (not a public event). Cost £20 for Dorset Osteopathic Group Members, £25 to non members, fee includes entry to Museum plus hot/cold drinks & biscuits (cake available to purchase at the venue). Content of talk: Anatomy literally means ‘to cut up’. Developed as a science when medicine and religion were working out how to have a working relationship, not much has changed in 300 years. Does anatomy really explain what a hands on therapist does, sees or experiences and if not why not? Do anatomical structures really develop syndromes or dysfunction? Is the ITB really a thing? Julian Baker runs dissection classes that explore more integrated approaches to the human body, introduces what fascia is and what it isn’t and generally tries to upset the apple cart. In this talk he will light the blue touch paper and retire as he challenges some of the holy grails of physical therapeutic approaches and questions some of their logic. Bring your boxing gloves and a sense of humour. |
