Daniel Collis appointed Vice President

The iO President, Glynis Fox, is delighted to announce that Daniel Collis has been elected Vice President, starting in October 2022.

The office of Vice President, open only to osteopathic members of Council, is voted in by the members of the iO Council. Nominated candidates are reviewed by the iO Appointments Committee, and their suitability for the role discussed at length by iO Council in a closed meeting.

First elected to Council in 2020, Dan had strong support from the student and new graduate members for whom he has been a champion since his election, chairing the iO’s Student Committee, a forum for students representing all the educational institutions.

Since this time he has also engaged in development policies, being an active member of the Policy and Standards Committee, and he is one of the iO Ambassadors, dedicated to building awareness and recognition of the profession.  Dan graduated from the European School of Osteopathy with a first-class master’s degree and works across two practices, in London and Cambridge.

Dan will take on the position of Vice President once the current Immediate Past President, Susan Farwell, steps down at the iO’s Annual General Meeting being held on 28 October 2022.

Ahead of his appointment, Dan said:

‘It is a huge honour for me to be elected as the next Vice President and to have the opportunity to serve our great profession in this role. I am passionate about Osteopathy and will dedicate all of my energy to representing and supporting our profession so that we may see:

  • More students choosing osteopathy as their lifelong career
  • More exciting opportunities for osteopaths in the mid-late stages of their careers
  • … and more recognition for osteopaths as we start to play a larger role in improving our nation’s health and wellbeing.

I’m looking forward to working with Glynis as president and the iO team to see the profession growing and thriving at this exciting time.’

Glynis Fox, President, said of Dan’s appointment:

‘On behalf of Council and the executive team, I would like to congratulate Daniel on achieving this honoury office.

‘Dan’s enthusiasm and passion for the profession are unwavering. Since joining Council he has brought boundless energy to all of his work. His ‘can-do’ approach has seen him actively engage with the iO’s strategy and projects to deliver our ambitions to the profession. I look forward to working with him as together we endeavour to inspire and develop the iO’s collaborative efforts to continue to support, unite, develop and promote the osteopathic profession.’
